With over 300 injured almost 30 dead, many of which are children, Palestinians are facing rapid state sanctioned ethnic cleansing. They are being ripped from their homes, killed in the streets and beaten in their places of worship. The whole world is watching, but is the world listening? Is the world listening to the pleas of the Palestinian people or the bias apathetic mainstream media? We find that many are quick to recognize the oppression of other ethnicities, but when it comes to Palestinians we are met with a cold and nervous: "it's complicated." We study and are quick to condemn the history of colonialism in our past, but when we see it today, in 2021, we shake our heads and avert our eyes. Because when the Palestinian child says "look into my eyes" we fear that we might feel something. How does settler colonialism of the past relate to the settler colonialism today? What are the elements that drive the colonizers mindset, and will the world finally look into that child's eyes?
Last year we saw almost 3,800 cases of anti-Asian hate crimes in the United States. Racist, xenophobic and orientalist language like "China virus" and "Kung Flu" by national leadership has exacerbated hate crimes towards Asian Americans. With the recent mass shooting at Asian owned spa centers, killing 8 people, we discuss why and how it was racially motivated. We dive deep into involuntary celibate alt-right beliefs and orientalist attitudes in colonial imperialist cultures. How does racism start in a society? Why does the dominant group so easily dehumanize minority groups? Is capitalism a factor in creating racism? All that and more on this very relevant episode of The Bayat Beat!
The big bad orange man has left the castle! His last days in office were troublesome, causing great suffering and even death. Now new leaders are in power. Will they live up to the challenge and work for the common folk? Only time will tell, but the fight is not over for those of us who still have hope. Our leaders must be held accountable and the oppressive forces we live under must be reworked. Will the new administration be the progressive force to save our country? What are the plans for dealing with the virus? And what do race relations in the country mean from here? Many of us would like to think good has prevailed, but sometimes there are no good guys.
Slaying dragons doesn't always mean grabbing your sword, killing the beast and stealing its hoard of gold. Sometimes it means sheathing your sword and talking with the dragon. But when a dragon lives for too long, it becomes a myth. And if we have learned anything from history, myths are not to be reasoned with. How do we slay the dragon of white supremacy? How do we slay the dragons of corporate America? How do we slay the dragons of billionaire aristocracy? When will we understand that we are not free, 'till all of us are free? The myth of America has gone on for far too long. It has plagued the minds of millions and created an apathetic zealotry unlike any other. Will you take up your sword and slay the dragons of America or let the myth prevail?
A tree is worth more dead, a whale is worth more dead, but is the United States worth more dead? Pulling back the veil of lies, looking through the fog of deception is like fishing from a polluted river. The river does not care what you catch, but you and the family you are feeding care. How do we pull back that veil when our own creations tempts us with the fog of deceit? Can we really say no, when all we have heard is, yes? If a tree is worth more dead, then why keep it alive? Has a holy war been raging for millennia? Will artificial intelligence eventually conquer the souls of humans? Why is the United States so adamant on spreading capitalism through imperialistic means? And how many more lives must be spent before justice is served?
The final chess pieces are being set and the race to conquer has almost come to an end. A new oligarchy is being put in place and many fear whether we have the ruthless desire to stop such an advance. The pawns are crumbling and the knights have been in battle far too long. What will happen to the great country which claims freedom and liberty for all people? Will it be overcome by fascism like its counter-parts to the east and south? What happens when there is no one left to speak for us and is murder ever really justified? But most importantly will honor ever be restored to the great United States we all know and love?
Political leaders around the world have seem to forgotten the past and those who forget the past are bound to repeat it. But those of us who have not forgot the past have taken to the streets, to social media and the very essence of life itself. Revolution has sparked in the United States and around the world, we the people have not forgotten the March On Washington, we have not forgotten World War II, we have not forgotten the countless genocide and slavery, we have not forgotten the freedom our ancestors fought blood sweat and tears for. And now that freedom is threatened. We the people are calling for revolution against fascist dictatorship, but how much of this is genuine? Where was this call for revolution four months ago with Bernie Sanders? Is this all the result of a failing economy and people being locked away in there homes, the resistance of a caged lion? Is this finally the fall of an empire or the start of a new one?
We are possibly entering a new era of plagues. Will humanity at its current state survive these pathogens or will our future children have to be genetically modified? With the rise of genetic modification in our foods, animals and even humans this may mean a radical change in our society, but is this ethical? Are we taking from the Tree of Knowledge once again? Should autism and down-syndrome be eradicated for the sake of human perfection? And will nations go to war for the right to breed super-soldiers? It is truly a brave new world, the foundations of our society will be challenged, the rights of humanity will be toggled, and the new age will be met with a clash of ideologies, ethics and morality.
A cold war is brewing between China and the United States. The symbiotic ties with these two nations seem to be breaking. But what is this cold war really about? Some believe World War III will not be fought with nukes, but information. And with everyone locked behind doors and stuck online, it looks like that skepticism is coming to fruition. How will all this play out for business owners? Are we entering a new era of viruses and plagues? All that and more on The Bayat Beat.
The whole world is restless. A war of freedom is being raged across the United States. What was seemingly crazy and inconceivable to most is now the new normal. The world has gone backwards. All of the sudden the crazy old man saying "the end is nigh!" isn't so crazy anymore. But is this a spiritual hunger everyone is searching for? Why do we hate authority so much? How does one bask in the silence of such a distracted world? Can The Bayat Beat break the veil or will the world be left behind in its shadowy curtain?
